Artist Statement

Perhaps spawned by an intense childhood exploration of nature's small miracles, I tend to focus on intimate scenes rather than the big picture--even a vast landscape must be scrutinized in order to find its hidden secrets. I’m most drawn to subjects that are uplifting and reflect a positive spirit, and I crave the freedom that a large working surface invites. It is in this wide-open space that I can best capture my subjects' energy through dynamic compositions, expressive brush strokes, and courageous color.
